Epona & Barkus Parade
***The big canine event each season starts with the Epona and Barkus
Parade which celebrates Mackinac's dogs &
ponies as well as involving their vacationing canine friends on the Saturday before
Father's Day. Everyone gets in the spirit by dressing up their dogs in the parade theme, this season it is "Broadway Musicals". Prizes for Best In Show will be awarded at the Mackinac Island Dog & Pony show immediately following...All are welcome to join in with their pooch, just click here to download our application and be sure to send it back before June 1st, 2010. Mackinac Island Dog & Pony Show
Immediately following the parade, everyone is welcome to enjoy the Mackinac Island Dog & Pony Show. Each season professional animal trainers take the stage at Windermere Point to show what our four legged friends can do. Its the most entertaining day of the year. Previous shows have included dogs from the Russian Circus, Wallen's Wild West Show and Police Dogs from Mid Michigan Rescue.
About Epona & Barkus
Epona is known as the Roman and Celtic goddess
of horses and protector of all animals. Barkus is
a play on words from Bacchus, the Roman god wine
coined by the good folks from the Krewe of Barkus
in New Orleans.
