*** About Us

***Founded in the winter of 2005 by a horse owner and a dog owner, the Mackinac Island Dog & Pony Club was created as a place for information and fun for our equine & canine companions.

***The big event each season is the Epona and Barkus Parade and Dog and Pony Show which complete the fun loving celebration of Mackinac's dogs & ponies and their revelers on the Saturday before Father's Day. All are welcome to join in with their pooch, just email us for an application after May 1 each season. To find out more about events during the lilac festival, click here.

**Epona is known as the Roman and Celtic goddess of horses and protector of all animals. Barkus is a play on words from Bacchus, the Roman god wine coined by the good folks from the Krewe of Barkus in New Orleans. Both are celebrated on Mackinac Island with many events each season.
